Our therapists are trained manual therapists who make your safety and comfort our top priority. We perform thorough functional assessments with each of our patients to determine if dry needling is appropriate for them. During the treatment we will walk you through each step in order for you to have the best possible experience.
What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a technique that we utilize with a solid monofilament needle. Trigger point locations are assessed and treated with the needles. A muscle trigger point is an extremely sensitive region of a tight band of muscle that can cause painful symptoms to occur. These can develop at any region of the body for a variety of reasons.
How does it work?
Following insertion of the needle into a trigger point, the stimulation provided to the muscle causes what we call a “twitch response.” This twitch response results in a relaxation of the treated muscle along with diminished pain levels and improved functional mobility.
What should I expect after a Dry Needling treatment?
Our expectation is that you will notice positive results immediately after one treatment along with progressive improvements following future sessions. Typically our patients experience soreness to the involved muscle for 1-3 days after dry needling is performed.
